These notes are ripe and succulent, with the red cherry providing a slightly tart and vibrant element. In addition to the fruit, you’ll also detect a hint of cola, adding a touch of sweetness and complexity. The presence of rhubarb and tomato leaf scents further contributes to the wine’s aromatic profile, providing a unique and herbaceous dimension. The wine has a soft and approachable finish, with the tannins and acidity integrated well, allowing the flavors to linger gently on the palate.

About the Wine: In celebration of the incredible 2019 winemaking season, Adam Carruth, owner & winemaker, is proud to announce the release of our inaugural, high-end label called Barrel Select. The first release of this label features two Bordeaux-inspired wines that are some of the best wines Carruth has produced, a 2019 BDX Blend and 2019 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Showcasing how Carruth Cellars has grown & matured over the 13+ years since our inception, these wines offer San Diego residents a taste of high-end Napa quality wines made locally in beautiful San Diego.

Winemaking: Our BDX is a co-fermented blend of Bordeaux varietals sourced from exceptional vineyards in Sonoma County. Produced in a Right Bank style, we start with a Merlot base and layer it with Cab Sauv, Malbec, Cab Franc and Petit Verdot. After extended maceration, the fruit was co-fermented and saignéed which resulted in a more concentrated wine with richer color & tannin.
