2018 Chalk Hill Cabernet Franc

Price for The Locals Club Members $48.00

Tasting Notes: Our take on Cabernet Franc results in a wine that has well-balanced tannins and medium plus acidity. Experience delicious notes of strawberry jam, plum and cherry on the nose, with classic secondary notes of bell pepper. Overall this wine is this a smooth, easy drinking red that you’ll want to keep just for yourself!
Food Pairing: Key with Cab Franc is to match the herbs & spices – try our Herb Chevre or Purple Haze cheeses, lamb meatballs in tomato sauce, or roasted pork.

Vinification
Chalk Hill is located in the Northeast corner of the Russian River Valley. This region is known for it’s warmer climate and soil that is powdery white soil. The soil is often mistaken for chalk (hence the name) but it’s actually white volcanic ash. There are only 5 wineries and 1400 acres of vines in Chalk Hill, so it is pretty unique to try a wine with fruit specifically from that area! After pressing, the wines were aged for 22 months in 20% new French Oak and 80% once-used French Oak before being bottled in September 2020.
