Wood Fired Pizza Maker

Carruth Cellars Wine Garden in Little Italy is looking for a hardworking individual to join our growing team as a Wood-Fired Oven Pizza Maker. We’re looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working, and dedicated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has amazing people skills, and is a team player. Positive attitudes and strong work ethics only! Fast learners that are self managed with go-getter attitudes welcome.

This is a part time position (20 – 30 hrs week) paying minimum wage + tips

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be 21 years or older and available evenings and some weekends/holidays
  • Kitchen and/or pizza experience preferred
  • Knowledge of dough making a plus
  • Capable of and comfortable with using kitchen equipment and knives
  • Experience with/basic knowledge of wine is a plus
  • Strong communication skills
  • Expert customer service
  • Mobility required during the entire shift
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 6 hours)
  • Must be able to carry at least 50 lbs (1 case of wine, large cheese wheels, etc)
  • California Food Handler’s Certificate required (or obtained within 30 days of hire)

Job Duties

  • Prepare and prep ingredients
  • Make pizzas according to the instruction given specific to our dough(s) and process
  • Cook pizzas in a wood fired oven
  • Serve pizzas table side as needed/run food to patrons
  • Properly describe and explain our company, our wines, our wine club  and our pizza to customers
  • Handle stressful or fast-paced situations
  • Confidently handle potential overly intoxicated, difficult, or unruly patrons
  • Greet customers and provide outstanding customer service
  • Follow cleaning requirements and consistently maintain cleanliness of work station
  • Clock in on time, in company attire, complete side work, and maintain a positive attitude while on the clock
  • Clean pizza kitchen area, help team members with closing procedures in other areas of the Wine Garden, and set up the next day’s team for success
  • Follow proper health codes for hygiene, cleaning, and handling food
