Carruth Cellars Wine Garden in Little Italy is a tasting room serving local wines made from our production facility in San Diego. The Wine Garden offers artisan custom-made cheese boards that pair perfectly with our wine tasting flights, and we are now launching a small menu with salads and sandwiches. We are looking for a qualified, enthusiastic individual who has experience in a small prep kitchen, preferably with cheese or sandwiches, to join our growing team.   • Prep front of house line items, including, but not limited to, cheese, meats, nuts, fruit, spreads, etc. so kitchen is set up for successful shift
  • Prepare sandwich & salad ingredients at the start of every shift
  • Execute orders containing cheese boards & sides, salads and sandwiches quickly & efficiently during a service shift
  • Running/serving menu items to customers, giving explanation of what is on the plate and what wines it pairs with
  • Following the company’s standards and recipes
  • Clean & sanitize the kitchen, fridges & appliances up to the highest standards
  • Communicate with TRM when food supplies are low; help receive deliveries & organize stock
  • Keep track of any food spoilage in the kitchen
  • Restock and organize the fridges & dry goods in a coherent, organized way
  • Assist with prepping and packing cheese/add-ons for the North County Tasting Rooms; organize items into boxes for easy delivery
  • Constant communication with TRM of any issues, needs or concerns


  • Ability to work and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, while maintaining a high level of detail and organization
  • Experience in a prep kitchen or with cheese, charcuterie, sandwiches or salads is preferred
  • Understanding bar operations and order protocol to ensure a smooth flow of service
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and take initiative, but also able to work well in a team environment
  • Wine-knowledgeable, with interest to learn more
  • California Food Handler’s Certificate required (or obtained within 30 days of hire)
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and need to be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be available to work approx. 20 hours a week
Ideally this person is a fast learner, an initiative- taker, a self sufficient worker, and has problem solving skills.
